So since a lot of friends of mine were doin' do closed species shizzle, I decided I could just as well try it myself! e^e)9
I'll probs make multiple journals about the beans, where I'll go more into detail about their looks and traits, their history, their group behaviour, yada yada yada. ;3
So, here we go! >:3
In this journal Imma discuss the main points, giving a quick summary of everything that will be more detailed later. >~>

Update: Smoothing things out now, working them out and improving them! ;3

Major update: renamed the species to Ibycus/Ibyci(plural), and gave the written info an update here. Also added in mutations that occur in them.~
MYO be coming up soon!

A Small Summary

Ibyci are cursed beings, humans who have had a powerful, permanent curse cast upon them that grants them their unusual and monstrous appearance. Having become outcasts of human society, they are spider-esque creatures possessing the upper body of a human, and the lower abdomen of a spider coated in steel. That eans, their lower abdomen is covered in armor-like plates which grants them both protection and immense strength.
Next to all that, they are also known for having an incredibly peaceful, friendly and kind nature despite their monstrous looks. Most Ibyci are heavily against violence, and spend most of their time in isolation from humanity.

How to become an Ibycus

Almost every Ibycus has been created by the hands of a curse bestowed upon them.
It does not matter who cast this curse, whether it be a skilled witch during battle, a dying lady's last words, or a foolish teenager impressing his friends on a party.
The curse causes them to undergo a (highly painful) transformation which will take only a few hours at most, leaving the victims in their new, monstrous state.
However.
In case the Ibycus is the offspring of two Ibyci, they will look, feel, think and act human until they reach adulthood; this ranging from 18 to 20 years old. In that period of time their cursed side becomes active, which will be indicated by cramps, nightmares, fevers, a lisp occuring, muscle aches and discolouring of eyes and canines. At some point, their body will undergo the same transformation as their parents have.
Note that under the minimum age of 18, a human cannot become an Ibycus. There is no way to tell an Ibycus child apart from a normal human child.

Appearance

An Ibicus has the upper body of a human, up until just above the hip area. From there on, their skin becomes covered by metal-looking plates which also happen to cover the rest of their spider-lower bodies. They all have two (normal) arms, and possess 6 steel-coated spider legs in total. The arms are located on the same place human arms are as well, while the legs are located on the sides of the lower body through openings in the armor.

Their legs are long and thin, and segmented with the same material of their lower bodies covering them. The last part of their leg is coated with a thicker layer of steel, which will always continue to look beautiful and shiny no matter what happens.
This steel part of their legs are indestructible; it is just as hard as diamond, if not harder. It is capable of piercing stone even and not gain a single scratch. However, it does cause them to always leave trails of their 'footsteps' no matter where they go and no matter what surface they walk on. Only on carpets is this side-effect of their powerful legs minimalised.
What is interesting, is that it's not uncommon for them to have patterns carved out in the thick steel area of their legs. If they have a pattern, please do know that it has been there ever since they transformed and has not been carved out. Why patterns occur on this part of their legs, is still unknown. Patterns do seem to occur more around Ibyci who used to have an aristrocratic background, but this is not certain.
No matter what happens.
The steel on their legs will not break,
Gain scratches,
Or even dent.

They all possess at least 6 eyes; two located on the same place as regular humans, two on their forehead, and two slightly above the cheek. Their sclera, irises and pupil are all the same colour, which in most situations is black. However, more colours have been recorded to occur, ranging from dark blue, to forest green, to chocolate brown, to even grey and red. An eye that is incapable of seeing, turns completely white. The rarest event to have ever been recorded was an Ibycus with only white eyes, which turned out to be completely blind.

Their ears are long and pointy, and can perk up, flatten or lower depending on their mood. Usually males make tiny holes in them to hang earrings in their ear, something females usually don't do.

They possess two big, pitch-black fangs in their mouth, which can be moved to point either forwards or downwards. On rare occassions, these fangs are white. Usually white fangs do not possess any venom, which leaved the Ibycus heavily disadvantaged compared to it's peers. However, it's rumoured that white fangs are far stronger then black ones in a biting sense.

Their lower body is usually either black or dark brown, though other colours (such as silver, dark grey, and even dark bue or purple) have been recorded as well. Not only that, but patterns such as swirls or stripes of a different colour have been spotted on them too.

Their hair consists of natural colours, with sometimes bits of dye in them. Since they usually don't cut it, it can grow to be very long for both males and females.
The only odd colours that can occur naturally are dark red, dark green and dark blue. Why these colours occur too, is still a mystery. People claim it was the result of a witch trying to spice the curse up a little, but nothing is sure.
They cannot grow facial hair, with some exceptions of course. Usually the only place hair is found, is on their head.It is common for both females and males to either braid their hair or tie it in a ponytail, to keep it from getting in the way.

Abilities

Each Ibycus possesses a set of abilities, which are all the same. These abilities include:
Their venomous fangs (with some exceptions)
Their strong legs
The ability to climb up vertical surfaces
The ability to create spider silk
Glue-like spit
Powerful bite
Inhuman strength
Immunity to diseases.
However, some Ibyci possess skills that others don't. One is a faster runner, another possesses hairs on their body they can use as projectiles (think: tarantulas), and another can possess night vision, etc.
Do note that not all of these abilities are necessarily beneficial. See them als mutations, variations on the regular kind. Some are good, some are…. Less good.
Also, uh, also note that no matter what, each arachne shall always be accepted and loved by the group of course.
You’re unique.
A little too unique, but still.
<3

However there are also some traits each Ibicus possesses that can develop over time, and will be more and more present depening on how old the Ibycus is.
These traits include:
Amnesia which strengthens over time
A negative self-image (there are exceptions to this, but majority fo Ibyci have admitted they possess this trait)
An overly kind nature
A constant need to be around others

If the Ibycus is able to survive the first period of the curse, they will quickly be able to adjust completely to their new selves and forget their pasts. However, their constant need to be around others does get them into deep trouble quite a lot, as they will even seek the company of nearby hunters if needed. An Ibycus that lives on it's own is usually not doing well and is likely not going to survive.

Venom and effects

Elaborating on their venom, combined with their legs their venomous fangs are their most powerful weapon. They can be moved around by the Ibycus, either pointing straight forward or downwards. Their fangs cannot be retracted, and they are immune to their own venom.
So it’s okay, you won't die because you bit your lip, boo.
The poison glands are located inside the top of their mouth, and are directly connected to their fangs.
Yes, it's possible to milk an Ibycus from their venom. It takes about a day before their reservoir is refilled again. They do not appreciate someone taking their venom, though.
The milked spider venom will often vary in colour, though a mixture between blue and green seems to be most common so far.

The venom of an Ibycus is very lethal.
When bitten by one, the victim will have two days left to live at most, and only when they’re lucky. TDuring this period they will experience high fevers, nausea, severe cramps and stomach pains, loss of muscle control, dizziness and exhaustion. Not only that, but problems involving breathing are also highly common.
Usually the victim’s skin will turn very pale or even yellow, but there are case of it turning red, blue or even a shade of purple.

There are only two ways to survive the bite of an Ibycus: Either by becoming an Ibycus or having the antidote.
You can become an Ibycus by letting someone curse you, but the consequences of said curse (read: becoming an Ibycus) are permanent. There is no reversal spell yet that is known to mankind.
Only very few know of the existence of the antidote, and who knows about it likely only knows the price. It is highly, highly expensive, and there is no guarantee it will work either. Usually, this is not an option for survival.

Silk

The spider silk of the Ibyci is known to be as strong as steel, yet softer than a feather.
It’s made from silk glands located at the end of their lower abdomen, and can be used for practically everything.
It is actually not that sticky when it’s just made, and is usually made more sticky by letting an Ibycus spit on it. With this, they can attach the silk to anything, or use it to keep the fabric they weave from it from falling apart.
They commonly use the silk to make clothes for themselves, make fabrics and carpets to make their homes cozier, or to make soft yet strong nets for catching prey.

Their silk is incredibly valuable amongst humans, mostly because of it's insane quality and because of how hard it is to get. Ibyci who are captured by humans are often forced to make large amounts of silk for them, which is not exactly a pleasant task and leaves teh Ibycus feeling exhausted, stressed and causes them to be in constant pain. The silk wil only e of good quality if the Ibycus is relaxed, healthy and feeling happy.

Mutations

Handplates.
Uncommon.
A rather common mutation is the appearance of metal plates on the hands of an Ibycus, making it hard for them to touch objects without damaging them. Their fingertips will usually be coated in the same steel their lower legs are made from, making them into perfect murder weapons. Usually, Arachne with hand plates are known to be more careful then others in touching or handling fragile objects or living beings.

Stomach plates.
Rare.
This mutation causes a plate to develop that covers the stomach for the Ibycus, causing them to be unable to bend down anymore. These Ibyci often have Insomia issues, due to not being abe to sleep comfortably. There is a chance the plate will cut into the Ibycus' stomach and vital organs once they bend down, which causes thm to be walking around with a straight back 24 hours a day. Usually Ibyci with this mutation are helped by their (normal) fellow spooders, which makes life slightly more bearable for them.

Body hair
Rare.
A few Ibyci happen to have thick, rough hairs growning on their face, arms, chest, back of lower abdomen (through the armor that covers it) and upper legs. The hairs on their legs and lower back can be released and aimed at a possible foe, where the haird will turn into mini-hapoons and dig into the attacker's skin. A disadvantage to this mutation is the constant shedding that goes paired with it. Only on their arms, chest and face do they not shed.
This mutation occures in both males and females, creating some females with facial hair.

Glowing abdomen and skin patterns.
Legendary.
These glowing patterns can occur at random, and occur only once in the million Ibyci or so. They can range from swirl and stripes to dots and camouflage spots, and can be any colour. At night, the spots will glow in the same colour as they are at day, making the Ibycus a beaken and very easy prey. Unlike regular spots, these patterns can also appear on the regular human skin of the Ibycus.
